Limited Capacity seats available

Educators and education leaders (e.g., school leaders, etc.) interested in learning more about values-based assessment and the role of assessment and documentation in maker-centered learning; attendees interested in learning about current work of the Agency by Design research project

What would it mean for assessment to be anchored in the values of the learners and educators who are engaged in the assessment process? In collaboration with the Agency by Design (AbD) research team at Project Zero, the Pittsburgh AbD practitioner cohort has taken the lead on exploring the concept of “values-based assessment” in ways that have influenced the project’s thinking on the role of agency in assessment and how we might look for and learn about the role of personal values in assessment practices. This mini course provides an introduction to this concept as well as the chance to see how it is applied in a maker-centered learning environment, a context that has relevance for a number of different approaches to learning, including experiential education, STEAM learning, project-based and problem-based learning, design thinking, student-centered pedagogy, and more. In this session, you’ll have the opportunity to clarify the values most important to you in teaching and learning, as well as the chance for hands-on experience in applying this values-based approach to assessment.
